CALLED TO SERVE

For September 2, 2008

1. Members of the restored gospel have the duty and privilege to share the restored gospel.

Abraham 2:9-11
  • What an awesome responsibility. A privilege. That "we shall bear this ministry and Priesthood unto all nations." I am so happy and proud every time I read this or think about this and our responsibility to share the gospel and bring the truth to our brothers and sisters. I am so excited!
D&C 88: 81
  • I hope we can all fulfill our covenant and share the restored gospel to those who do not have it in their lives yet. It is our job. I hope we will not let them down.
2. The Lord has said "The field is white already to harvest."

D&C 6:3
  • After reading this scripture then continuing on in the missionary prep manual "Many of Heavenly Father's children are prepared to hear and accept the restored gospel." It made me think about an experience that happened and is still happening in my life through someone else:
  • My bro had the opportunity to meet a non member in the airport during a layover, who I later met at the airport as well after they landed. My bro told her about the church and she believed it immediately and wants to know more. She is a golden investigator. She is so prepared. She is prepared and ready to be baptized. It has been such an amazing experience with her and watching her strength and growth and her faith as she is willing to do all she can because she knows without a doubt it is true. Even while the devil is beating down on her, she does not give up. Just a week ago she did not have the knowledge or truth and was living in confusion. But because my bro took the opportunity to get up and go sit by her and talk to her her life has now completely changed and she doesn't feel lost. Let us thrust in the sickle! The field is white and we must harvest!
Jeremiah 3:14
  • Like my new friend from the airport the Lord is bringing her to 'Zion.' He has been preparing her for a long time. She has told me a lot of her past and the things leading up to this moment in her life and her and I are both amazed at how mindful the Lord is of her and all of our needs. He will lead us.
